VW Passenger bus 'Winnie'

VW passenger bus 'Winnie

This is 'Winnie' our passenger bus for family members, she seats up to 5 passengers. Winnie is an 11 window kombi and was born in 1967 and lived in Australia until she was imported to the UK a few years ago. Winnie underwent a serious transformation to become a beautiful bus as you see here.

Available in the Midlands: Mileage limit applies to Winnie and she may not be available in the winter months.

Winnie features safari windows both front and rear and has two pop out windows at the side to keep you cool, she also has a gas heating system because VWs are notoriously chilly in the winter. It may be possible to use Winnie when the loss is of a small child, parents may be able to travel along side. Please contact us to see if we can help.

If you wish to have music as you go then a memory stick can be used to play MP3s through the stereo or an ipod connection.

Please be aware that Winnie is an old dear and being a passenger in her is an experience. Please understand that she can be a bit jolty and on some British roads you will feel all the bumps. Winnie has been 'stylishly' lowered and this leaves her with fairly hard suspension, its all part of the VW experience but we need you to understand that it will not necessarily be the smoothest limousine ride but more of an adventure especially on our roads. Please ensure all passengers are aware before embarking!

While our hearse travels on board our specially converted lorry we do not have room to carry two at a time and this is why Winnie is limited to funerals nearer to our base within 50 miles. It may be possible to transport her at additional cost and depending on weather conditions but we may need extra time to arrange it. This vehicle is not available for weddings,  proms or nights out.

         Woodland Burial poem

                 by Pam Ayres

Don't lay me in some gloomy churchyard shaded by a wall
Where the dust of ancient bones has spread a dryness over all,
Lay me in some leafy loam where, sheltered from the cold
Little seeds investigate and tender leaves unfold.
There kindly and affectionately, plant a native tree
To grow resplendent before God and hold some part of me.
The roots will not disturb me as they wend their peaceful way
To build the fine and bountiful, from closure and decay.
To seek their small requirements so that when their work is done
I’ll be tall and standing strongly in the beauty of the sun.
